Mount Bulgheria

Mount Bulgheria (which is the panoramic background to our structure) is 1225m high. Its name comes from Bulgarian colonists, who settled here before the year 500. It is massive and evocative and dominates the surrounding landscape. Besides San Giovanni a Piro, many other villages and hamlets are perched on its buttresses, from which many springs flow out, water among which the most famous is the one of Sambuco in the hamlet of Bosco. At the bottom of the Gorge of Tragara (a sink of about 700m) flows in the Valley of Hell, the river Mingardo. Various hiking trails are possible, from simple walking to the paths and to the "roads" that lead to the top...
